Via Xinhua :

" Bangladesh said on Sunday the number of people who have contracted A/H1N1 flu in the country has surpassed 1,000.

The latest statistics of the country's Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research under the Health Ministry released here on Sunday showed another 47 cases of A/H1N1 flu were confirmed last week until Thursday, raising the overall figure to 1,015.

Following the rising trend, Bangladesh last week started its A/ H1N1 pandemic immunization campaign, setting a target to vaccinate about 15.6 million people across the South Asian country.

According to the officials, the priority groups of the vaccination include healthcare providers and pregnant women.

Bangladesh said in April it will further strengthen measures to prevent and better combat outbreaks of A/H1N1 flu after a 34-year- old woman died of the disease last month."
