Malaysia : 36 New H1N1 Cases Reported

" A total of 36 new Influenza A (H1N1) cases were reported until 5.30pm yesterday, bringing the total number of H1N1 cases reported so far to 13,709.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said that of the 590 people with influenza-like illness (ILI) still treated at wards nationwide, 13.9 per cent or 82 cases were certified positive for H1N1.

"Seven of the cases are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with five involving risk factors," he said in a statement on Saturday.

Dr Mohd Ismail said that until 8am today, eight ILI clusters were reported in Perak, Johor and Pahang.

They included at Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Pengkalan Hulu, Perak, involving 41 people; Sekolah Kebangsaan Tunku Mahmood 1 and 2, Kluang, Johor, involving 11 people and four people from the Kampung Meranti Orang Asli settlement, Pekan, he added.

He advised the public with risk factors to get the H1N1 vaccination, adding that until yesterday, 175,747 people had received the vaccine.
