Malaysia : Current Situation of Influenza A (H1N1) as of May 4, 2010

The latest H1N1 update from the Ministry of Health:

" Until 8:00 am on May 4, 2010, the Ministry has received six (6) reports of ILI cluster cases from the following three (3) states as listed in 'Appendix 1'.

Meanwhile, until 5:30 pm on May 3, 2010, a total of 31 confirmed cases of influenza A (H1N1) were reported for a cumulative number of 13,793 cases to date. The remaining of ILI cases that are being treated in the wards in the country are 606 cases.

Of these, 79 cases (13.0%) were confirmed positive influenza A (H1N1). The number of patients being treated in the ICU is seven (7) cases where five (5) of them has risk factors. The ministry received no reports of deaths, bringing the cumulative number of H1N1 deaths to this day remaining at 81.

Ministry of Health would like to remind people that the spread of Influenza A (H1N1) continues to be active in the community. Community, students in all institutions across the country, employers and workers were urged to remain vigilant and adopt preventive measures and control of H1N1 infection that has been divulged before this which is proven effective.

Communities and employers can help by reporting the ILI cluster incidents immediately to the nearest District Health Office."
