Colombia : Bogota stays alert due to increased cases of A/H1N1 flu

" BOGOTA, June 8 : The Bogota health authority issued a warning on Tuesday about the increase of A/H1N1 flu cases following a rise of infected cases in the capital area.

Recently, the infected cases per week increased from two to 14.

Bogota health director Ricardo Rojas said so far this year there has been three deaths caused by the disease, and the number of the infected has increased.

In Colombia the number of infected people has increased over the past 21 days, from one to three cases per week to six on average. In Bogota, since the first reported case, 1,744 infections have been counted and 74 deaths, according to the figures of the department of Health.

The cases of infection confirmed by the National Institute of Health are 3,900 and there has been 243 deaths. The locations that have registered most cases are the departments of Santander, Tolima and Narino."
