Philippines : Dengue kills 1, downs 26 in Oro

Via Sun Star :

" A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl from Barangay Bayabas died while 26 persons have reportedly been confined at the government-owned J.R. Borja Memorial City Hospital in Barangay Carmen due to dengue.

Councilor Dante Pajo, chair of the City Council committee on health and public safety, warned that dengue cases might continue to rise with the onset of the rainy season.

Pajo said those affected with dengue are residents of barangays Bonbon, Bayabas, Kauswagan and other areas in the city.

He said last month, 22 persons were also confined at the City Hospital due to dengue.

"There are more cases of dengue but were not disclosed by some private hospitals since they are afraid it might give a negative effect on them," Pajo said."
