India : Dengue raises its head again

Via Bangalore Mirror, another dengue report coming out of India. Looks like dengue is thriving in India :

" Over 60 confirmed and hundreds of suspected cases of dengue have been reported in the city in the last one month. There seems to be no concerted effort by the authorities to check the mosquito menace.

The monsoon has barely arrived and city hospitals are already seeing a steady flow of patients with dengue fever and dengue-like symptoms, which doctors are attributing to the intermittent rains.

L T Gayathri, Chief Health Officer, BBMP, said that there were 63 confirmed cases of dengue in the last one month, many from the eastern part of the city. Bowring Hospital received as many as 60 patients with dengue symptoms, of whom 20 were confirmed cases. These cases are on the rise but are not of a serious nature, hospital authorities said."
