" THE Republic is among a group of European countries with the second lowest rate of deaths from swine flu, according to a new report.
There have been 26 swine-flu deaths here -- 0.6 per 100,000 population -- according to the European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.
The report groups the European countries in five bands, according to the number of deaths in each country.
Ireland is at the upper end of a band of countries which also includes Spain, France and Germany. These countries have between 0.31 and 0.6 deaths per 100,000 population.
This group is the second from the bottom in Europe for death rates from the disease.
Countries like Estonia were in the highest bracket, after suffering death rates between 1.21 and 1.6 per 100,000."
