India : One more dies of swine flu in Orissa

" Bhubaneswar, Aug 3 (PTI) Swine flu claimed one more life in Orissa today taking the total toll to seven since last year even as the state government raised doubt over the cause of death of one victim on Sunday (August 1). The latest victim of the killer H1N1 virus was reported from a private hospital in Cuttack. The victim (46), a resident of Dhenkanal, was admitted to the hospital on August 1 with complaints of high fever, cough, cold and fatigue. He tested positive to H1N1 virus yesterday, according to health department control room sources.

While four persons died of swine flu last year, three persons (two in Bhubaneswar and one in Cuttack) died of the disease since Sunday night, they said. Of the total 15 swab samples examined so far, seven have tested positive to A-H1N1 virus, they said. The minister expressed doubt over the cause of death of a 50-year-old man from Tamando area at a private hospital here because he was suffering from different chronic diseases including heart problems. Asking the people not to panic over the situation, health and family welfare minister Prasanna Acharya told the assembly that the health administration was prepared to meet the eventuality."
