Nepal : Dengue hits Birgunj after Chitwan

Via The Himalayan Times, dengue hits another district in Nepal :

" BIRGUNJ/CHITWAN: Dengue has now assumed epidemic proportions in Birgunj after inflicting the neighbouring district of Chitwan.

Patients are thronging Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital, National Medical College, and AMC Hospital.

District Public Health Office (DPHO), Birgunj, has however, not informed about the disease even though it has taken epidemic form since two weeks.

Fifty-two patients have been diagnosed with dengue virus since September 2. Twenty-five of them have been admitted in Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital and 27 in AMC Hospital.

Arun Kumar Mahato DPHO head said the public have been informed about preventive measures through FM radio. Birgunj is a high risk area, according to Epidemiology Division."
