" THERE is concern at the Fiji Corrections Service compound at Vaturekuka in Labasa after blood tests confirmed one of 12 inmates hospitalised last week had dengue fever.
While the 12 inmates were treated and returned to the complex, one prison warden remains admitted at the Labasa Hospital.
This was confirmed by northern corrections supervisor Sakiusa Veiwili.
"I have received the blood test result of just one inmate of the 12 and it's been confirmed a case of dengue fever. We have yet to receive the results of the tests of the other 11."
Mr Veiwili said they were also awaiting the results of the warden's blood test.
The situation has prompted a fresh warning from the Health Ministry to destroy all mosquito breeding areas.
Ministry spokesman Peni Namotu said with the continuous wet weather experienced around the country, people must take the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the mosquito-borne illness."
