" Bhubaneswar: In an attempt to take some preliminary steps to take hold on bird flu, Odisha government has alerted Chilika and Bhitarkanika wildlife sanctuary and urged to keep an eye on the migratory birds.
H5N1 virus in the state was detected in Keranga, where two birds were found positive for bird flu and since Chilka Lake is located near it, therefore, the officials there are being asked to take special care over the matter.
Both the places are home to millions of winter migratory birds and this year over 8 million birds assembled in Chilka whereas around 50,000 birds in Bhitarkanika national park.
Officials are considering the matter seriously and talks to find out the solutions for the same have been started.
As per the reports, the movement of the poultry have been banned within Keranga's 10 km radius."
