Malaysia : Only health authorities can close schools

Via The Star:

" On Thursday, the Education Ministry directed all school heads to isolate students with ILI to prevent the spread of the virus.

Education director-general Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd Dom said school authorities should conduct daily checks on students and staff for flu and fever.

Several new cluster cases of the virus were detected earlier this week with cases reported at the Taboh Naning Putra Putri national service camp in Alor Gajah, the Bandar Puteri housing area in Klang, SMK Kuala Kubu Baru in Selangor, SJK(C) Chong Hwa in Batu Pahat and the White Resort national service camp in Penang.

In Selangor, the primary and secondary sections of the Sekolah Sri KDU would be closed for a week from Monday because of A (H1N1), said a parent of the school.

The school, she said, had informed its students and parents of the matter yesterday."
