" PATHANAMTHITTA: With two more confirmed cases of dengue fever, the total number of dengue cases in Pathanamthitta district in the past 38 days has gone up to 53 on Wednesday.
Talking to The Hindu here on Wednesday, Dr. Laila Divakar, District Medical Officer, said the department had launched an elaborate public awareness campaign in the problem-hit areas and other parts of the district in an effort to prevent the spread of the disease. According to official sources, as many as 935 cases of viral fever have been reported from various government healthcare centres in the district on Wednesday.

Health department sources said that a large number of viral fever cases, many of which suspected to be dengue, had been reported from Enadimangalam in the Parakode block.
A good number of suspected dengue fever cases have also been reported from the Elanthoor block and in the municipal limits of Pathanamthitta and Adoor.

The DMO said the Pathanamthitta General Hospital had the facility for conducting confirmatory test for dengue fever and all the Community Health Centres and the taluk hospitals in the district have got the facility for ‘card test', making diagnosis easier. She said the disease was being dealt with at all hospitals as per the treatment protocol."
