India : Bharuch youth dies of swine flu in city

"VADODARA: Swine flu claimed a life in the city on Monday with a 24-year-old male from Bharuch succumbing to the virus. Brijesh Patel was admitted to SSG Hospital late on Saturday as a suspected H1N1 patient. His samples tested positive and he died during the course of treatment on Monday afternoon.

Patel was a resident of Amod taluka in Bharuch district. He was referred by the local doctor to a private hospital in the city. But Patel was later brought to SSG for treatment. His samples were sent for testing as he showed symptoms of the disease. Patel's report arrived on Monday, but he died by afternoon.

Patel was a pharmacist, who was undergoing treatment for cold, cough and fever in Bharuch. When his conditions did not improve, he was referred to a city-based hospital. Earlier, a 33-year-old man, also from Bharuch, who worked as a watchman with a private company there, was brought to the city as suspected H1N1 patient. He died on Friday at a private hospital in the city."
