Philippines : Dengue cases hit 822, 7 dead

Via Panay News :

" ROXAS City : Dengue cases in Capiz province rose to 822, with seven deaths.
According to the records of the Integrated Provincial Health Office, this city has the most number of dengue cases, followed by Pontevedra, Pilar, Dao and Dumalag towns.

This city, with a total population of 147,738, had 210 cases of dengue from January to July 3 this year.

Two patients died last June — one from Brgy. Libas, and another from Brgy. Banica.

City Councilor Teresa Almalbis proposed to create a special committee to undertake a three-pronged initiative to be called “Oplan Dengue Alert 6 to 6” to prevent an outbreak of dengue here.

Thinking of practicality, Almalbis cited how costly acquiring the disease could be. She said a bag of platelet, including the processing fee, could cost up to P2,800."
