" DENGUE is suspected in the death of a 21-year-old Moruga man who died on Friday night while warded at the San Fernando General Hospital.
Courtney Brereton, of St Mary’s Village, an Information System student, died at hospital on Friday. According to his father Curtis, his son began getting headaches on July 9 and was taken to the Princes Town Area Hospital.
He was subsequently transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital and was eventually sent home. Two Sundays ago, Brereton’s condition worsened and again he was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he died five days later at about 7.30 pm.
Yesterday, Curtis was reluctant to speak with Newsday but said his son had dengue-like symptoms. “Only after tomorrow (today) when the autopsy is done, we will know for sure. He had a high fever and he vomited at some time.
Right now we do not know what he died from,” Brereton’s father said. "
