Philippines : 953 of OL traps in Tumaga positive for ‘Dengue’

" The Department of Science and Technology has announced that 953 Ovicidal/Larvicidal (OL) traps that were put up in Barangay Tumaga yielded positive results for larva of Aedes Aegypti.

In an interview, DOST Information Officer Thelma Diego told Zamboanga Today that 953 OL traps were positive for larva of Aedes Aegypti which is the Dengue Fever, carrying mosquitoes.

According to DOH local health official, the results went out after the DOST hired workers went back last April 18 to check in the households in Barangay Tumaga, where the OLTraps were distributed.

A total of 7,840 OL Traps were distributed in Tumaga from April 11 to 16 which benefited 1,960 households. Each households were given four traps two were place indoors while another two were place outdoors. The Barangay was chosen because Tumaga has a high case of Dengue Fever."
