" The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health today (October 4) urged members of the public and management of institutions to maintain good environmental and personal hygiene to prevent influenza.
The appeal was made after CHP received a report of Influenza-like-illness (ILI) outbreak affecting 19 students and two staff members of a secondary school in Fanling.
The affected persons comprised 10 males and 11 females aged between 11 and 39. They developed symptoms of respiratory tract infection, including fever, cough and sore throat since September 30.
One of them required hospitalisation. All the affected are in stable condition.
Nasopharyngeal aspirate specimen from the admitted student tested positive for Influenza A.
CHP staff have visited the school and provided health advice to the management."
