India : Bird flu - Teams collect samples

Via IBN Live :

" PARADIP: With several crows, ducks and hens falling dead in Raghunathpur and Paradip town, the Government has deputed teams to the areas to collect swabs and samples to ascertain the reasons.

A team led by Chief District Veterinary Officer (CDVO) Premanada Rout collected samples of the dead birds.

The Directorate of Animal Husbandry constituted eight teams of which four each have been engaged in Paradip and Raghunathpur to maintain vigil. The teams will identify poultry farms, count the birds, stamp out entire poultry population, including destruction of eggs, feed, litters and other infected materials in a radius of 3 to 10 km of each location where the flu is suspected. The teams will also ensure restrictions on movement of poultry, poultry products to and from the suspected area and clean infected premises."
