" Three children have died and nearly 60 have been hospitalized in four towns in Leyte province due to diarrhea.
According to Department of Health (DOH) Region 8 Director Dr. Edgardo Gonzaga, an outbreak has already been declared in Calubian town, the worst hit, with almost 20 barangays affected.
Also affected were the towns of San Isidro, Tabango and Leyte.
The three children were identified as Glydel Aniel, 2 years old, Jay-r Aniel, 1,and Trixin Calsa, 2, all residents of Barangay Ul-og in Calubian.
According to their parents, the children were complaining of headaches, stomach aches and LBM for four days.
The rise in diarrhea cases has been noted since December 24 such that local health authorities have been going house to house to explain to residents how they can avoid getting the disease. The Rural Health Unit of Calubian have also distributed water disinfectants to more than 40 families in the area."
