" PUNE: A 23-year-old Vimannagar resident succumbed to the H1N1 influenza on Saturday, taking the swine flu death toll in the city to 243. According to Uddhav Gavande, deputy director of the state health services, Manish Singade, who was suffering from chronic kidney failure, developed symptoms of the flu since June 1.
He was admitted to the isolation ward of the Inlaks and Budharani hospital on June 6. His condition deteriorated, and died on June 12 at 6.15 pm. Meanwhile, as many as 21 patients are still being treated at the isolation wards of various hospitals in Pune district. Of them, two are on ventilator.
Of the 21 admitted, six have tested positive for H1N1, while 16 suspected have been administered Tamiflu as precautionary measures. With this, the number of positive cases in the district rose to 3,420. Total 13,75,452 people have been screened for the dreaded virus so far. A high level meeting to review the preparedness of the health department, in view of the coming monsoon, was held in Mumbai recently. "
