" PAPAR, July 4 : Sabah recorded 1,161 dengue cases from January to July 2 this year, a huge increase compared to 534 cases during the same period last year.
"This new trend is alarming because the number of dengue cases in Sabah has always been among the lowest," she told reporters after opening a Kaamatan Festival and health campaign at Taman Perumahan Kinarut Selatan, here.
She called on the people to intensify steps to prevent the spread of the disease and make dengue-prevention their daily routines.
At the national level, she said although the overall number of cases showed a decrease, there were more deaths recorded this year.
Eighty dengue death recorded so far this year compared to 62 last year, she said."
