" The Department of Health (DoH) has intensified an anti-dengue drive in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) amid what it deemed as the alarming incidence of dengue cases that affected 365 people from January to June this year.
According to ARMM Health Secretary Dr. Kadil “Jojo” Sinolinding, his office has recorded 183 dengue cases in Sulu, 89 in Maguindanao, 60 in Lanao del Sur and 33 in Tawi-Tawi during this year’s first semester.
Majority of those affected by dengue range from ages one month old to 80 years old, 56% of them are women.
DOH-ARMM reports showed six dengue deaths in Sulu, two in January, one in March and three in May.
While confirming the high rise in dengue cases, Sinolinding said that everything is being done by his agency to combat possible outbreak of dengue in the region under a new operation slogan: “Nandirito kami, Naglilingkod at Nagmamahal.”
