Trinidad & Tobago : Dengue suspected in teen's death

Via Trinidad Express :

" DENGUE is suspected in the death of a 14-year-old boy who died at the San Fernando General Hospital sometime between Saturday evening and yesterday morning.

Showin Bando's death occurred just about two days after Health Minister Therese Baptiste-Cornelis confirmed an outbreak of dengue cases and the death of one person from East Trinidad.

Bando, a former pupil of the Williamsville Junior Secondary School, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday last week with high fever which he started experiencing about three days before.

His mother, Tricia Farrow, told the Express yesterday that Bando was placed on Ward 15.

The 36-year-old mother of six said her fourth child was spitting blood while at the hospital.

Farrow, of Morne Roche Road, Hillview Drive, Williamsville, said she spoke to a nurse and a doctor and was told that Bando was exhibiting symptoms of dengue. "
