Via The Vancouver Sun :
" Plans underway to get patients faster hospital emergency care could be undone if more people don't get flu vaccinations and Alberta is hit by a flu tsunami similar to Ontario's, the acting CEO of Alberta's health superboard says.
"I remain very concerned that Albertans have not gone to get influenza vaccine at the rate they should have to deal with their own health ... and prevent some of the visits that need to come to our emergency departments," said Dr. Chris Eagle with Alberta Health Services.
Although plans adopted in December appear to have successfully decreased the number of admitted patients blocking emergency stretchers for new patients, he said that could be reversed if emergency rooms become inundated with flu patients."
