An article from Asahi, excerpt :
" The fifth confirmed outbreak of avian flu in two months has experts concerned that migratory birds are bringing to Japan highly pathogenic viruses that could survive for a long time and devastate the nation's poultry industry.
"The current situation is such that bird flu could break out anywhere, anytime, across Japan," said Hiroshi Kida, a professor of veterinary medicine at Hokkaido University. "All we can do is to contain it locally by swiftly reporting (an outbreak) and culling birds."
The Aichi prefectural government said early Thursday that a highly virulent H5 strain killed birds at a poultry farm in Toyohashi. "
