An article from Brisbane Times :
" Heavy rain across north Queensland is providing a temporary reprieve from an outbreak of dengue fever, but authorities have warned locals not to be complacent.
Thirty-four cases of the type 2 strain of the dengue virus have been reported in Innisfail in recent weeks, as well as one related case in Cairns.
Authorities say the outbreak has been particularly nasty, with many of those infected admitted to the local hospital and some needing to be revived by medical staff.
However, Queensland Health says heavy rain is temporarily killing off numbers of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which spreads the virus, and flushing out breeding sites."
