India : Fever cases on the rise in Alappuzha

" The grip of viral fever tightened on the Alappuzha district with several fresh cases reported on Monday. According to health department officials, several patients have been admitted to government hospitals in the district with leptospirosis, dengue, Japanese encephalitis (JE) and chikungunya.

Meanwhile the Health administration has announced a red alert in the district following the spreading of Chikungunya, Japan fever and other contagious diseases. Red alert has been issued to tackle the emergency situation existing due to the outbreak of such contagious diseases.

The district administration has given instructions to Grama Panchayats and Corporations for spraying mosquito repellents and to launch a cleaning drive in the district.

Four people in Alappuzha district has been identified with Japan fever. Health officials said two grown up along with two children are those being identified with the disease."
