" Health authorities in Zambia have confirmed the outbreak of measles in some districts in the eastern part of the country, Ministry of Health Spokesperson Reuben Mbewe said here Tuesday.
Local media quoting sources said the minister has confirmed the reports. The minister revealed that most cases have been reported in three districts, namely Chipata, Chadiza and Lundazi, adding that so far 1,076 cases have been recorded. However, no deaths have been recorded to date.
The health spokesperson, who was speaking during a press briefing, noted that local health authorities have stepped up efforts to combat the disease and awareness campaigns have been intensified to encourage parents to take their children for immunization."
