" The fourth case of rabies was confirmed Tuesday by New Hanover County Animal Control Services, a news release from the county said.
Animal control officers responded Saturday to a residence on Rabbit Run Road where a wild raccoon had fought with the homeowners' dogs.
The dogs had current rabies vaccines and booster shots. The owners also were notified that they might have been exposed to the virus after handling the dogs, the news release said."
