" Nine students from a religious school in Kuala Kangsar were among 12 people tested positive for Influenza A(H1N1) over the past 24 hours.
The nine from SM Agama Ad-Diniah Al-Islamiah were among 21 students in the school down with influenza-like illness.
Others tested positive for the flu were two students from SJKC Sin Hwa in Batu Pahat, Johor, and a case at the immigration quarters in Padang Besar, Perlis.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican said six cluster cases of influenza-like illness, involving 43 people, had also been recorded by health authorities.
“Those found positive with A(H1N1) have been given anti-viral treatment.
“The other influenza-like illness cluster cases are detected in the Sri Merdeka kindergarten in Batu Pahat, Johor; SPB Integrasi Kerdau in Temerloh, Pahang; and the Indera Pahlawan National Service camp in Maran, Pahang,” he said in a statement here yesterday.
Dr Ismail said that as of Saturday evening, a total of 534 patients were treated in hospitals nationwide for influenza-like illness, of whom 70 had been tested positive for A(H1N1).
“Twelve patients are in intensive care, nine of whom are in the high-risk category."
