The latest H1N1 situation in Malaysia from the MOH, to note 2 more fatalities has been recorded, excerpt with my translation :
" For the week 27/2010 (4 July to 10 July 2010), eight (8) new ILI cluster cases was reported from four (5) states as compared to five (5) clusters reported in the previous week as shown in Appendix 1.
However, the number of new patients with symptoms of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI), which has been admitted to hospital for treatment in the same period showed a decrease of 6.6% for a total of 568 compared to 608 patients in the previous week. The remaining cases that are still being treated across the country on the last day of week 27/2010 (July 10, 2010) are 125 cases in 66 hospitals, including 10 private hospitals. Of these, only 39 patients or 10.3% were cases of Influenza A (H1N1) confirmed by laboratory tests. Also, there are11 cases of H1N1 patients being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and seven (7) of them are individuals who have risk factors.
The numbers of confirmed cases of influenza A (H1N1) in the same week are 74 cases compared to a total of 42 cases in the previous week, bringing the cumulative number of positive cases of influenza (H1N1) in the country to 15,328. For the record, there were two cases of fatalities reported, bringing the total fatalities cases to 91 cases. The cases are as follows:
1) 29-year-old female who was pregnant (19 weeks) from Selangor. Expert insights and clinical test results confirm that the cause of death was H1N1 pneumonia with severe pulmonary haemorrhage with multi organ failure.
2) 34 year old female 34 weeks pregnant from Terengganu. Expert insights and results of clinical trials confirm that the cause of death was H1N1 with severe pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome."
