Philippines : Polluted water eyed in diarrhea outbreak

Via Inquirer :

" WITH diarrhea cases reaching 18 in Catmon town, north Cebu, health officials are blaming water contamination as the source of the outbreak.

The Regional Epidemiological and Surveillance Unit (RESU) 7 visited the town yesterday to check e hospitals’ supplies and compliance with guidelines.

“There is no other possible cause of the outbreak except the contamination of water system,” regional epidemiologist Rennan Cimafranca told CEBU DAILY NEWS.

He said they are waiting for the results of their water tests to verify the contamination.

Cimafranca said they also took stool culture and sensitivity samples of some victims to determine the type of bacteria that affected them."
