" A 55-year-old woman from Kurla succumbed to malaria at Sion Hospital on Sunday. She had been admitted to the hospital on the same day. This is the fifth malaria death in the city in July.
“The patient was suffering from diabetes as well as hypertension, which made her more susceptible to malarial infection. Late admission to the hospital and, therefore, late diagnosis could have led to her death,” said Dr G.T. Ambe, executive health officer, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Fifteen more people in the city, including two children, also tested positive for swine flu on Monday; taking the total number of H1N1 cases recorded this month to 165.
Of these patients, four are admitted in hospitals, while 11 have been quarantined at home."
