India : Youth dies; doctors deny A(H1N1) flu

Via The Hindu :

" TIRUNELVELI: One of the two youths kept in isolation at Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for the past two days with suspected symptoms of swine flu died on Monday.

However, the hospital administration maintained that T. Ramanathan (30) of Vallivilai near Tiruchendur died of “lung consolidation,” and not swine flu.

As Ramanathan, who had come home for a temple festival from his workplace in Gujarat, and R. Muthuvel (15) of Puththantharuvai, a Bangalore-based sweet stall worker, were carrying symptoms of swine flu, they were isolated and treatment was given to them in a separate ward. Their blood and sputum samples were sent for analysis.

Ramanathan died around 11 a.m. on Monday.

Medical Superintendent Jimla Balachandran told The Hindu that the condition of Muthuvel, “who has also been admitted with infection and high fever,” was “stable.”
