Australia : Mossies released to combat dengue fever

Via The Age :

" Cairns will be under the microscope from today .. when mosquitoes infected by a bacterium to help prevent dengue fever are released into the community.

It acts as a vaccine for mosquitoes .. which could in turn stop the disease spreading in humans.

The University of Queensland's Professor Scott O'Neill says the 12-week field trial could save tens of thousands of lives .. and the project's had a lot of global interest."
