Hong Kong : Public hospitals announce latest Human Swine Influenza cases

" In response to the influenza situation in Hong Kong, the Hospital Authority (HA), in close collaboration with the Centre for Health Protection, has activated the enhanced monitoring system for severe influenza patients staying in the intensive care units (ICU) of public hospitals. The HA spokesman today (March 10) announced that two newly confirmed influenza cases were admitted to intensive care units, including a 67-year-old male patient at North District Hospital who was confirmed with Human Swine Influenza. He is in critical condition and requires ventilation support. The other is a 24-year-old female patient at Queen Elizabeth Hospital who was confirmed with Influenza A. She is in serious condition. Both patients were prescribed with Tamiflu. The hospitals will continue to closely monitor their condition.

Furthermore, Tuen Mun Hospital earlier announced that a 21-year-old female HSI patient succumbed today due to continued deterioration of clinical condition. The hospital expressed deep condolences to the patient's family."
