Pakistan : PM’s son among 190 new cases in Lahore

Pakistan's dengue update via The News :

" AT LEAST two patients have died of dengue fever in the Lahore General Hospital while Abdul Qadir Gilani, the son of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, and MNA Sheikh Rohail Asghar are also among hundreds of new cases of dengue virus confirmed in the City on Sunday.

The dengue virus has assumed proportion of an epidemic in the City as a total of 190 new patients of dengue fever positive have been reported in different hospitals of the provincial metropolis. The total number of dengue fever cases has reached 3,335 in the City, which belied Health Department s claim of less than 1,500 patients confirmed so far across the province.

According to details, Saeed Anwar, 36, and Farzand Ali, 70, both residents of Yasin Town, Ghazi Road, were admitted to the Lahore General Hospital and were diagnosed with dengue fever. Both the patients succumbed to dengue on Sunday.

However, Communicable Disease Control (CDC) Cell, Directorate General of Health Services, Punjab, confirmed the death of only one patient, Saeed Anwar, due to dengue while adding that the investigation was under underway to probe the cause of the second death. According to DG Health Services, Punjab, Dr Aslam Chaudhry, the Health Department has ordered a probe into the death of two patients from same locality.

Besides, it has directed the officials concerned of the City District Government Lahore to conduct a comprehensive fumigation and indoor residual spray in the affected locality, Yasin Town, and its adjacent localities as well."
