" NEW DELHI: Ten new cases of dengue have been reported in Delhi in the last week.
With this the total number of such cases this season has gone up to 25, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) said. One person died of dengue last month.
A senior official of the national vector-borne diseases control programme said, "We conduct surveys on a regular basis to identify vulnerable population. The larval build-up has significantly increased in the recent past and there are chances of many more falling prey to dengue."
Dr VK Monga, chairman of the MCD health committee, said steps were being taken to control breeding of mosquitoes, including fumigation in high-risk localities and prosecuting owners of buildings where mosquito-breeding has been detected. "The cases of water-borne diseases, including cholera, are at an all-time high."
