Malaysia : 30 isolated, one warded for flu-like symptoms

Via New Straits Times, excerpt :

" KUALA LUMPUR : Thirty people were ordered to be isolated at the Maahad Tahfiz Daril Naim hostel in Kelantan while another was admitted after they came down with suspected influenza A (H1N1) symptoms yesterday.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican said throat swab samples were taken from all to ascertain if they were victims of H1N1.

"While waiting for laboratory results, doctors treated them for their symptoms and ordered that they be isolated from others in the hostel," he said, adding that 129 people who came in contact with them were being closely monitored for fever, cough, cold and sore throat.

As of 5.30pm on Monday, 55 people were confirmed positive for H1N1, bringing the total number of cases to 14,466 since May last year.

There are 618 people warded in hospitals nationwide with 73 of them confirmed with H1N1.

People in the high risk group are advised to get their vaccine doses at any one of the 104 health facilities identified nationwide."
