Today's H1N1 update from the MOH. Finally they have included a report with regards to the recent fatality which was reported in the local newspapers 2 days ago.
If you have been following my updates, you would notice the increase in ILI cases, confirmed H1N1 cases and ICU patients.
The update with my translation :
" Until 8:00 am on May 19, 2010, the Ministry received a total of five (5) reports of ILI cluster cases from the following five (5) states as listed in Appendix 1.
Meanwhile, until 5:30 pm on May 18, 2010, a total of 13 confirmed positive cases of influenza A (H1N1) were reported for a cumulative number of 14,479 cases to date. The remaining number of ILI cases that are being treated in the wards in the country are 591 cases. Of these, 70 cases (11.8%) were confirmed positive influenza A (H1N1). The number of patients in the ICU are 14 cases with ten (10) of them having risk factors.
The ministry also wants to elaborate on the fatality which was reported in some of the local newspapers on May 18, 2010 involving a woman age 51 years in Malacca. Although this case is confirmed positive H1N1 virus infection by PCR test, she also had bacterial infections in the blood. Reports of experts and the results of tests found that the cause of death was "Septicaemic shock syndrome" due to bacterial infection and not caused by direct infection of H1N1."
