" CHARLESTON, W.Va. : Some Kanawha County children didn't get the second dose of their H1N1 flu vaccination last winter, and local health officials want to know why.
The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department and the University of Charleston will conduct the study -- the only one of its kind in the nation, Dr. Rahul Gupta, chief health officer for the health department, told the Kanawha-Charleston Board of Health on Thursday.
About 30,000 students are enrolled in public and private schools in Kanawha County, Gupta said, and about 65 percent of them got the first H1N1 shot. But of those kids, only 88 percent got the follow-up vaccination, he said. "
