Influenza Surveillance 2010 - Latest report
- In 2010, as at 30 April, there have been 64 confirmed cases of pandemic (H1N1) 2009 influenza reported in Australia, bringing the total of confirmed cases to 37,700 since May 2009. There has been one new confirmed case of pandemic (H1N1) 2009 influenza diagnosed and reported in Australia (Western Australia) during this reporting period.
- Of the 492 confirmed cases of influenza diagnosed during 2010 up to 30 April, 13% have been sub-typed as pandemic (H1N1) 2009, 73.6% as type A not sub-typed and 0.8% as A/H3N2. A further 10.6% have been characterised as type B.
- Sentinel hospitals have reported two hospitalisations associated with pandemic (H1N1) 2009 influenza and one associated with influenza B, this reporting period.
