Malaysia : Nineteen new cases push H1N1 figure to 14,326

" PUTRAJAYA: Nineteen more people have been confirmed positive for Influenza A(H1N1) as of 5.30pm on Friday, pushing the total up to 14,326.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican said the number of people being treated in hospitals for influenza-like illness was 606.

“Of that total, 80 have been confirmed positive for H1N1. The number of cases in intensive care units is 12,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

He said as of 8am yesterday, eight clusters of influenza-like illness were detected in Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Perak and Sela­ngor.

“The Ministry of Health reminds the public that virus spreads easily in crowded places.

“To prevent this effectively, it is important that those with symptoms of influenza-like illness avoid going to public places,” he said."
