" All 9,922 primary and secondary schools have been told to do "spring cleaning" before the mid-term break, which starts on June 5, to get rid of Aedes mosquito breeding grounds.
School administrators must ensure that their entire compounds are free of the mosquitoes.
A total of 17,215 cases with 56 deaths have been reported between January and last Friday, compared with 19,275 cases and 48 deaths during the same period last year.
Selangor topped the list with 8,070 cases and 27 deaths.
This was followed by Kuala Lumpur/Putrajaya (1,988 cases/ four deaths), Sarawak (1,899 cases/ six deaths), Johor (1,091 cases/ three deaths), Negri Sembilan (770 cases/ three deaths), Sabah (693 cases/ one death), Perak (622 cases/ two deaths), Pahang (435 cases/one death), Kelantan (431 cases/ two deaths), Penang (399 cases/ two deaths), Terengganu (343 cases), Kedah (235 cases/ two deaths), Malacca (183 cases/ three deaths), Perlis (48 cases) and Labuan (eight cases)."
