" Dengue cases continued to go up in the national capital as 71 more patients today tested positive for the vector-borne disease, taking the number of affected to 1,22.
The city had recorded 1,153 dengue cases and three deaths last year. The cases of the viral disease generally remain prevalent till the month of November.
Of the total cases so far, 1,061 have been reported from MCD areas, 125 from NDMC areas and the rest from other parts of the city besides some outstation cases. The city reported three dengue deaths this season.
The highest number of 205 cases have come from MCD South Zone followed by Central Zone (176) and Civil Lines (144).
According to statistics released by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the number of cases till this time in 2009 was only 12.
The figure was 136 and 24 in the same periods in 2008 and 2007 respectively. According to the MCD, in the previous years, the total number of dengue cases and deaths were 1,312 and 2 (2008), 548 and 1 (2007) and 3,366 and 36 (2006)."
