India : H1N1 claims another life in the state

Via Express Buzz :

" CHENNAI: The H1N1 virus claimed another life as a 40-year-old woman from Sriperumbudur died on Saturday. This is the second officially recorded death in the State in the second wave of swine flu this year.

On Friday, an assistant public relations officer in the Secretariat died of the flu — the first officially recorded one.

Dr C Veni, Medical Superintendent at the Government General Hospital, said Vasanthi of Sriperumbudur was admitted on Monday after she complained of acute breathlessness. She also suffered from hypothyroidism and diabetes, making her condition complicated. “It was a case of late referral, and the presence of hypothyroid and uncontrolled diabetes made the treatment process difficult.”

Presently, seven suspected cases are being treated at GGH, of which three have been declared positive. Throughout TN, 20 positive H1N1 cases have been reported."
