I said it many times before and I'm saying it again, H1N1 is back in Malaysia. Whether it's the second wave or not, it's here and it's high time we pay attention to it and keep our guards up. There's a lot of news coverage on H1N1 in the Malaysian media recently which is a clear indication of what's happening.
Via The Star:
" School heads must be vigilant and monitor their students continuously to stop the spread of Influenza A(H1N1).
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said principals should be aware of any student with flu-like symptoms.
“The ministry’s circular to schools last year on the guidelines for the prevention of A(H1N1) still stands,” he told The Star yesterday.
He said school heads were briefed on the steps to be taken to prevent its spread. “As we have gone through this last year, we now have the experience to deal with any incident immediately,” he said.
Dr Wee said parents should also play their part in minimising the risk, urging parents whose children who might have flu-like symptoms to consult a doctor fast.
“Your child’s health is more important than lessons missed,” he said.
Dr Wee said all schools had a “H1N1 unit” in place, comprising experienced teachers and staff, which could be activated by principals during an emergency.
He said hand sanitisers and thermometers that were distributed by the ministry last year could still be used.
“Schools with an abnormal number of absentees should carry out temperature checks on their students,” he added."
