Malaysia : Few takers for free vaccines

Via AsiaOne News:

" Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai is disappointed with what he calls the complacent attitude of Malaysians.

Despite the fact that there are 400,000 doses of influenza A (H1N1) vaccine available at 104 government health facilities nationwide, there has been poor response from the public, especially those in the high-risk category.

"The ministry has spent a substantial sum of money to buy the vaccine to protect the rakyat from the disease. But as usual, people are not responding quickly to get the vaccine shot," he said.

Those in the high-risk group are pregnant women, the obese, heart patients, diabetics, asthma patients, those with chronic lung diseases, kidney patients, those with suppressed immune systems, such as people with HIV, and people with neurological and neuromuscular disorders."
