Pandemic H1N1 Situation in Malaysia until 05th April 2010

The latest from the MOH in Malaysia. It's a long one but I think we should take the time to read it as we will be aware of the current H1N1 situation in Malaysia which is very much increasing. Please use Google Translate if you can't understand Malay.

" On 6 April 2010, until 10.00pm there were 7 ILI clusters reported throughout the country. The clusters are reported in three states and it all involved the schools as follows:

1. Pahang
  • SM Sains Pekan, involving 32 students, all treated as outpatients.

2. Selangor

  • SJKC Han Ming, Batu 14, Puchong, involving 12 students, 4 of them are A(H1N1) positive and were treated in hospital and was allowed to return home.
  • SM Sains Kuala Selangor, Selangor involving 15 students and they were treated as an outpatient.


3. Kedah

  • SJKC Chung Hwa, Kuah, Langkawi, involving 46 students and they were treated as an outpatient.
  • MRSM Langkawi, involving 17 students and they were treated as an outpatient.
  • SMK Mahsuri, Langkawi involving 56 students and they were treated as an outpatient.
  • SRK Bayas, Langkawi involving 54 students and they were treated as an outpatient.

Except for the cluster in SJKC Han Ming, the laboratory tests for the above cluster cases have not been received.

Until 5.30 pm on 5 April 2010, 118 new patients with symptoms of ILI was admitted to the hospital for treatment, meanwhile 65 cases were discharged. The total numbers of current ILI cases that are still being treated in the country are 507 cases in 47 government hospitals and 12 private hospitals.

Of these, 36 patients (7.1%) were cases of Influenza A (H1N1) positive, which was confirmed by the laboratory test. A total of four (4) cases of influenza A (H1N1) are being treated in the ICU, two (2) in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, one (1) in Kelantan and one (1) in Selangor. No reports of death received yesterday.

Referring to the current situation, ILI activities is increased in the 3 states of Melaka, Selangor and Kedah. In Kedah, ILI activities are still limited on the island of Langkawi. Ministry of Health has instructed the Director of Health to improve health education and prevention activities, especially in schools and in places of public attention.

Each ILI incident in the community must be investigated immediately and to be informed to the operations room at the Ministry of Health on the same day. For the public information, the Ministry of Health will issue a statement about the events of the cluster cases on each day from today."
